What color are your feathers

So they say….birds of a feather flock together. Like a old wise tale must have handed out some instruction manual and said ” you see that group there..if you see one…you see all”.

Now I’m no idiot but I do realize that there will always be some level of compare and contrast from outsiders of the people you choose to call your partners in crime.

I know that each person brings their own pudding to the mix and when all mixed together, they should create the recipe of a well put together balanced team.

I try to be especially careful of my circles and want to make sure that whatever crowd that I roll with…I’m growing with. Not everyone has the same talents or the same experiences but hopefully they can muster up something to bring to the table. I want your good qualities to add to my collection and vice versa.

When I come to the conclusion that I have outgrown this circle or certain members, as hard as it may be, for the greater good of me….I have to move on.

The associates I am most commonly represented by, whether I am accompanied or not…I want them to be something that I smile to myself when asked ” hey…you know….”. It’s as if we have signed an invisible pact that for this time in life we vow to honor, obey, and not embarrass the hell out of each other….or something like that.

Once that pact has been violated or the terms have expired, I grab my bags and head on up to my next level of soaring, hopefully not army of one.

Having faith in the reason, season, lifetime, and be educated enough to except the difference. It is bitter sweet to grow because you look at all the others you’ve come across that are still sitting in faint distance. You reminisce of all the good times, the laughs and lessons learned. But in times it comes to a selfish necessity to take your exit. They no longer share the same color scheme of your feathers.

    1. Likewise. Life has a funny way of reintroducing you to people to see them in a certain light. 😊

  2. Another fine piece Ms. Daniels. I so like the part that says ” … each person brings their own pudding to the mix and when all mixed together, they should create the recipe of a well put together balanced team …” This is definitely true of my life, experiences and the people currently in it or who have grown out of it.

  3. I’ve already packed my bags years ago and moved on. I haven’t found many people in life that I’m willing to let In my circle. It’s my immediate family and that pretty much it.

    1. Sometimes we don’t learn this lesson early enough in life. Looks like you should teach a course 😉

  4. To be a friend, one must want to be one. Must contain the knowledge and awareness to help the person or persons become the best possible success. To be honest and always a number 1 fan. With that said, I’m your biggest fan and your best friend. Great truths and thank you.
